Samuel Adler, un compositeur prolifique et influent, célèbre son 90e anniversaire avec une compilation impressionnante de ses œuvres orchestrales et concertantes. "Adler: One Lives but Once. A 90th Birthday Celebration", sorti le 23 février 2018 sous le label Linn Records, est un témoignage de la diversité et de la richesse de son répertoire. Avec une durée totale de trois heures et dix-neuf minutes, cet album offre une exploration approfondie de la musique d'Adler, allant des symphonies aux concertos pour piano, violon, guitare et quintette de bois, en passant par des suites et des scherzi choraux.
L'album s'ouvre avec la Symphonie No. 1, suivie de la Symphonie No. 2, chacune divisée en trois mouvements contrastés qui démontrent la maîtrise d'Adler dans la composition symphonique.
