Bob Chilcott, un compositeur britannique renommé, nous offre avec "St John Passion" une œuvre chorale profondément ancrée dans la tradition musicale anglaise. Publié le 3 mars 2015 sous le label Signum Records, cet album de 1 heure et 7 minutes est une interprétation moderne et accessible de la Passion selon Saint Jean.
Chilcott, ancien membre des célèbres King's Singers, a su allier son expertise vocale et son talent de compositeur pour créer une œuvre à la fois spirituelle et intemporelle. Les textes, tirés de l'Évangile de Saint Jean, sont mis en musique avec une sensibilité qui honore la solennité du récit tout en y apportant une touche de modernité.
L'album est interprété par le Wells Cathedral Choir, dirigé par Matthew Owens, et offre une performance vocale d'une grande pureté et expressivité.
